Due to concerns about bad weather, the College Board has CANCELED the SAT on Saturday, March 11.
The next administration of the SAT at Flushing HS will be in May.
Dear Parent or Guardian,
This letter is to notify you that, our school, Flushing High School (25Q460), has been designated for Local Support and Improvement (LSI) by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) for the 2022-23 school year based on the performance of our students on New York State assessments in school year 2021-22. The previous designation “Good Standing” has been changed to “Local Support and Improvement (LSI),” to recognize that all schools, even higher performing schools, are in a continuous improvement mode and can benefit from local support from their districts to meet students’ differentiated needs. The school’s designation is part of the state’s accountability system consistent with federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requirements. In the 2023-24 school year, NYSED will be updating school accountability designations based on school year 2022-23 results.
I am so proud of the collaborative efforts of our entire school community that resulted in improved student outcomes and removal from designation for Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI). I’m confident that the programs and interventions that are being implemented citywide and at our school will continue to make the 2022-23 school year a high-quality educational experience for your child.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. Our entire school staff is committed to ensuring a successful year for our students and school community. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 718-888-7500.
Sincerely,
Ignazio Accardi

Additional Guidance for Students with IEPs for the SYEP Application: As in previous years, you and your staff are encouraged to support students with IEPs and 504 Plans with the application process. Interested students should follow this SYEP 2023 TCAC Online Application Guide and submit an online application for their age group through their borough’s Transition and College Access Center (TCAC) office by 5:00 p.m. on March 31. TCACs will support students with IEPs and 504 Plans with the necessary information to be added to their applications in order to receive targeted support for placement in the TCAC-specific lottery; this enhances their chances of being placed in their respective borough and program choice. In addition, note the following:
For borough specific questions regarding applications for students with IEPs or 504 Plans, contact your TCAC office; for general questions, email nyctcacs@schools.nyc.gov.

Dear Parent or Guardian,
The New York City Department of Education is performing a comprehensive inventory of all devices loaned to students. To achieve this, we’re asking for all devices to be brought to school from March 15th-March 29th, to perform a device inventory. Devices include desktops, laptops, and tablets.
How this impacts you
Throughout the pandemic, the DOE has loaned devices to the students; these devices must be brought back into the school on the days of the inventory. The devices will be verified they are in good functioning condition and returned to the student to be brought back home for continued learning.
What you need to do
Make sure that your child brings their DOE device with them to school from March 15th-March 29th. They do not need to bring accessories (for example, the power cord or keyboard). Please have your child bring the device to school even if it is broken or not in good condition. The DOE will look into replacing it under warranty.
What will happen to the device
A DOE vendor will scan the barcode on the device and return it to your child. This should only take a few seconds and the device will be returned to your child the same day. The device will have a sticker on it, indicating it has been scanned. Please do not remove this sticker. If you have any questions or concerns, please work with our school’s SPOC (Max Waibel, mwaibel@schools.nyc.gov)
Sincerely,
Flushing High School Administrative Team
Estimado padre o Guardianes,
Atentamente,
