Welcome to the FHS Mathematics Department! Our goal is foster student learning and conceptual understanding through real world application within a student centered classroom. We strive to build our student’s skill in not only mathematics but reading, writing, discussion, and listening as well.
In high school mathematics, students are required to pass at least one NYS Regents Exam for graduation. However, all of our students take four years of mathematics and we motivate them to take all three regents exams.
We have a Peer Tutoring Program that runs during lunch periods on Fridays. During this time, all students are welcome and there is always a supervising teacher present. We also have a Math Team run by one of our Algebra teachers, Ms. Llanos, that meets Wednesdays after school.
As the January and June Regents approach, we offer regents prep sessions called Rock the Regents, on Saturdays. We offer a variety of higher level mathematics courses to prepare students for college and careers after high school.
