Appropriate Warm Weather Attire
Announcements will be made once a week reminding students of the policy. Students who dress inappropriately will be asked either to wear a freshly laundered tee shirt provided by the school or if necessary, parents must be called to school to provide appropriate clothing or to take their children home to change.

Updated Citywide Standards of Discipline Now Available in Many Languages
The Citywide Standards of Discipline holds students accountable for their behavior. Each level of infractions contains a minimum to a maximum range of possible disciplinary responses that may be imposed. The code describes disciplinary action from insubordinate behaviors to seriously dangerous or violent behaviors.

Chancellor Joel Klein has affirmed a ban on cell phones in the city schools,
"Whether it takes the form of talking, e-mailing, messaging, taking photos or playing video games, student use of cell phones during the school day disrupts a school's learning environment," Klein said in an e-mail this month to the Parent Association of Manhattan/Hunter Science High School, one of the new small schools in the Martin Luther King High School complex. "I want to emphasize that the policy exists solely for the purpose of maintaining safety and order in the school building."
